Originally a student at Brighton Polytechnic in the 1970’s, where she studied fashion and textiles, specialising in knitwear design, Noelle Barnett's keen interest in art led to a return to studies, and a BA (Hons) Fine Art from the Arts Institute, Bournemouth, (now the Arts University College, Bournemouth).
She completed her MA in Fine Art in September 2011, (Distinction), in which she investigated the depiction of skin and flesh, primarily in painting.
She continues her enquiry into the ephemeral nature of skin as well as experimenting in other areas to continually develop her practice.
